WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS IN TANZANIA EFFECTIVE 1ST OF MARCH 2019

Tanzania Road Authority (TANROADS) will start to strictly enforced Weight Restriction of containers moving to and from Dar es Salaam port via road effective 1st of March 2019. The Eastern African Community Vehicle Control Act 2016 covers not only Tanzania but neighboring countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

The law passed in 2017 aims to protect roads by controlling overloading. A transporter operating vehicle of a gross vehicle weight to 3,500 kgs or more shall be weighed in every weighing station that is situated along the Regional Truck Road Network in East Africa Regions.
